Anita’s Letter
Dear Anita,
This drug has took my identity, my spirit, and my soul. It almost convinced me to take my life. I had no hope. I thought my drug of choice would comfort me and take the pain away. Instead, it stripped me of morals, values, and principles. It consumed me. This addiction has taken away my entire being. I was lost. living in complete darkness, clothed in shame and guilt…
I begin to cry out to God, “Please help me, please God. I need to know that you really love me. I need to know that you can help me live again.” And I’m sobbing to a point I can’t catch my breath, and I hear a quiet, calm voice say to me, “I love you, I love you.” As I looked around, I felt a peace I’d never felt before. Something was happening, and it was God. At that moment, I had hope again.
