Testimonies: Current Residents

Nate

Hi, I’m Nate, and I’m 16. It was easier to tell my parents what they wanted to hear and then do what I wanted anyway. I slowly built up to using drugs everyday. When my dad called me on it, I told him I could stop whenever I wanted. But he knew better. I was pretty angry when my family brought me to Teen Challenge. But as I got clean, I could see that God was real, and so was my need for him. I didn’t deserve it, but he saved me and he set me free.

JJ

My name’s JJ. I grew up with a good Christian family. But I remember always wondering what it was like to drink or do drugs. Well, when I was put in the situation to actually do them, I gave in and that was it- I was hooked. Thankfully, my parents prayed me into Teen Challenge. I knew God was going to do something awesome in my life. Since I left the drugs behind, my family can’t believe the change- they say the prodigal son has come home.

Holly

My name’s Holly. When my dad got sick, my world fell apart, and I turned to ecstasy. If I couldn’t feel good in reality, I’d take an imitation happiness. One night, my mom met me at the door; I will never forget what she said, “Holly, you can’t use here anymore. You can go to Teen Challenge, or you’re out of this house.” And I am so glad that I came here. I don’t have to settle for a counterfeit solution; I found a savior. I have real joy in Jesus now.

Max

My mom had no idea I was huffing half the stuff under the kitchen sink, passing out multiple times a day. Eventually I started using any drug I could get my hands on… and I got in real trouble. My aunt let me move in with them, but she said, “Max, if you can’t stay clean, you can’t stay here.” When I broke our deal, she helped me get into Teen Challenge. I came here trapped by drugs, but when I gave my life to Christ, I found real freedom.

Vicki

My name’s Vicki; in my hometown, partying was just what you did. I thought I’d put it aside someday, always in the future, but instead I began a wild downward spiral; I was arrested 36 times and was so hardened that when the courts gave me a choice, I chose prison over treatment. I finally came to Teen Challenge… broken and only half believing I could get clean. But God met me here and turned my life around. He gave me something to believe in and a way to get free.

Nichole

My name’s Nichole. I’m 16. I started huffing pretty early. I told myself it was okay ‘cuz it seemed like my whole family did drugs, but one by one their lives fell apart. I still wasn’t ready to admit I had a problem, to be honest, when my mom brought me to Teen Challenge, she practically had to drag me here, but I really want to thank you, Mom. When I got here, I gave my life to Christ, and I started to heal. And without him, I never would have got clean.

Brian

My name’s Brian; my parents weren’t real happy when I dropped out of Jr high to join a band. That environment rubbed off real quick, and I started down a dark road of depression and alcohol so bad that my family was sure I was gonna die. They even discussed who might give my eulogy, but, God’s hand saved my life. When I came to Teen Challenge, the darkness began to lift. What Satan came to kill, steal, and destroy in my life, Jesus has given me back- and more.

Tammie

My name’s Tammie. After alcohol took over my life, I overdosed and flat lined at the hospital. My daughter received the phone call to come right away. Thankfully I survived that day and made it to Teen Challenge. I was ready for a real change. It too almost two months before I physically felt better from alcohol withdrawal- and when Jesus met me on my knees, that’s when the healing really began for me. He took away my addiction, my guilt and pain. Now I’m a real mom again.
