You might have heard of Irene, the Minnesota Teen Challenge “Cookie Lady.” But have you heard of the Heathers Estates Blanket Ladies? The Blanket Ladies are a group of 10 volunteers who make and donate fleece baby blankets, handmade crocheted blankets, and hats to homeless and maternity shelters. In a six month period, the Blanket Ladies group made and delivered 288 baby blankets and 164 stocking caps to five local agencies.
The Blanket Ladies recently disbanded and decided to donate their fundraising proceeds to Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge, whose mission is to “assist teens and adults in gaining freedom from drug and alcohol addictions and other life-controlling problems by addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.”
Pictured center is Deborah Tomey, MnTC Community Liaison, accepting a check from The Blanket Ladies. Also pictured, are unofficial officers of the Blanket Ladies, Erna Taillefer (left) and Phyllis Mork.
We are thankful for everyone who supports MnTC as we help people recover from their addictions, but stories like these are especially heartwarming!
